Peer Review and Publication Process
Tokovi istorije accepts submissions throughout the year.
The Editorial Board strives to ensure that each manuscript is reviewed within two months and that accepted articles are published within one year. If, due to various factors, these timeframes are extended, the Editor-in-Chief and the Editorial Board undertake to inform the author and maintain regular communication.
Each submission undergoes an initial editorial assessment to determine whether it may be considered for publication and whether certain revisions or additions are required before the manuscript is sent out for peer review.
For each manuscript, the Editorial Board appoints at least two reviewers, in accordance with the principle of double-blind peer review. Reviewers are selected on the basis of their expertise and relevance to the subject matter, with due attention paid to preventing potential conflicts of interest.
Reviewers are not informed of the authors’ identities, nor of the identity of the other reviewer assigned to the same manuscript. All communication during the evaluation process is treated as confidential.
If two positive reviews are received, the manuscript is accepted for publication.
If reviewers request minor or major revisions and/or additions, the Editorial Board conveys these suggestions to the author. The author may communicate with the reviewers (through the Editorial Board) and submit comments on the recommendations and requirements.
If a manuscript receives one positive and one negative review, the Editor-in-Chief and the Editorial Board will appoint a third anonymous reviewer.
The final decision on the acceptance of a manuscript for publication is made on the basis of the reviewers’ assessments and the views of the Editorial Board, led by the Editor-in-Chief. The content of reviews, negative evaluations, and reviewers’ requests remain confidential even after publication or the permanent rejection of the manuscript.
Further details on the rights and obligations of authors, reviewers, and the Editorial Board, as well as on the procedure for handling submitted manuscripts, are available in the “Ethical Principles” section of this website.
